Muse A and Muse B are in a kindergarten class together, but don’t know each other yet. However, unbeknownst to Muse B, Muse A is blind. Muse B doesn’t seem to understand this at first, but after learning about blindness from their parents, Muse B approaches Muse A the next morning and starts talking to them. They soon become fast friends and Muse B decides to teach Muse A what it’s like to see. Every day, instead of doing schoolwork, Muses A and B sit in the corner while Muse B explains colors and textures, linking the colors of several items together.
Both muses end up doing this every day for hours, and during summer break, Muse B takes Muse A with them on vacations, teaching them about the beach, the mountains, etc. Muse B starts taking pictures of everything they see and writes the date on the back of each photo, in the hopes that one day, Muse A would be able to look at them one day and remember their adventures.
By the time both muses are eighteen, getting ready to leave for college, Muse A’s sightless world is unbelievably colorful. Muse A learns of a special surgery that can give them their sight. Muse A tells Muse B about the procedure, and although Muse B is very happy for them, and they want their friend to see, they begin to wonder if the surgery is safe. Muse B realizes that Muse A really wants the surgery and decides to go along with them.
Just before Muse A is put to sleep for their surgery, they ask Muse B what they both look like. Muse B explains, clutching Muse A’s hand with worry. Muse A comforts their friend, then goes into surgery. Once they wake up again, Muse A can see, and asks for a mirror, confirming how Muse B described them, then asks Muse B to see the photos they had taken during their many years of friendship, to look at what they had missed out on.
- Option 1: Muse C was Muse A’s original teacher, but they move away. They move back when they learn of the surgery, and all three muses reminisce.
- Option 2: The surgery is a failure, and Muse A still cannot see. They become depressed, and it’s up to Muse B to cheer them up.
- Option 3: Both muses become such close friends that they fall in love. Muse A never learns of the surgery, but they soon don’t mind being blind, just as long as they are with Muse B.
